Queen Etiquette and Business
In preparation for authoring this article I began to research Queen Etiquette and ironically, I was only able to find information related to The Queen of England; Queen Elizabeth as if she is the only standard. By no means am I knocking her. I give honor where honor is due. I would be remised if I didn’t state that this is simply not true. You are a Queen as well! Yes you! We are all Queens just as God created us to be.
With this said, I would like to state Queens, we must know who we are personally, spiritually, in business! However, how would you know you’re a Queen in every capacity if no one ever told you? Queen etiquette is largely based on knowing you are a Queen. If you are unconscious of who you are, it is impossible to claim your birth right. To be conscious of something, you must be aware. Consciousness is based on where we are or willing to be at that very moment which dictates our level of consciousness. We are constantly shifting in and out of consciousness. 1 Peter 2:9 declares “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.“ The Bible also declares in Jeremiah 1:5 ”Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations”. Our God is so faithful to His word that we were given this as a birth right but a lot of us do not know this.
According to NPR.org “Black Business Ownership is higher than pre pandemic and women are driving this growth.” In fact. the levels are up 30% above pre pandemic.Furthermore, in 2021, more than 42 million employees left their jobs. And between April and August 2021 alone, workers resigned nearly 20 million times, according to the Bureau of Labor statistics. This mass exodus was 60% higher than during the same period in 2020 and 12% higher than 2019.
During the pandemic, with job uncertainty, families decided to bet on themselves and start the businesses they have always dreamed of. What does that mean for us as Black Queens? It means that women are no longer waiting for opportunities to be created for us, instead we are creating our own lanes and opportunities. No longer are we playing it safe and staying in a dead-end job or career that we are not passionate about. I took back the reigns of my life as well and became an entrepreneur three years ago. I started an Event Planning business with no start up funds or seed money. In closing Queens, I want to encourage you today that you are royalty and God gave His best when He created you! You deserve the best of everything this world has to offer. Do not allow anyone to tell you different. There are no limits in God! Remember you are a Queen, and the world is waiting on you to unveil yourself.
